Blueberries

A little boy was standing thoughtfully before the blueberry bush in the garden, his mother came.
She observed that he was both confused and distressed.

“What’s the matter, my dear?” she asked.

“I’m thinking mom,” the boy answered.

“About what, my dear?”

“Have blueberries any legs, mom?”

“No! Of course not, dear.”

The confusion passed from his face, but the expression of trouble deepened, as he said:
“Then, mom I think I’ve swallowed a caterpillar.”
